Parenting Style Forum Rescheduled

Parents are invited to learn how to identify their child’s personality type and discuss corresponding parenting styles at the next meeting of the Project Sussex Kids General Council, Tuesday, February 28thth, at Project Self-Sufficiency.  Meetings will be held at 9:00 a.m. and at 6:00 p.m., in order to maximize opportunities for participation by the general public.  Project Sussex Kids, the Sussex County Council for Young Children, has been designed by the New Jersey Department of Children & Families to address the needs of local families who are expecting or who are parenting young children.  Meeting participants will also receive an update on Project Sussex Kids activities.  Refreshments will be provided; childcare is available upon request.  Project Self-Sufficiency is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.

At the meeting of the General Council, Project Sussex Kids Coordinator Haley McCracken will address the varied types of personalities typically exhibited by children, and walk parents and caregivers through the range of parenting styles needed to maximize communication and provide effective discipline.  Interactive activities will help participants to learn how to gauge their child’s reaction to change, activity level, tolerance for frustration and other situations.

County Councils for Young Children have been established in all of the state’s 21 counties to bring together parents, caregivers, as well as health, education and social service professionals to enhance communication, coordination and collaboration of services.  The Project Sussex Kids General Council Meeting is free and open to the public, but registration is required.  To attend the General Council Meeting, call Project Self-Sufficiency at 973-940-3500.  Additional information is available at www.projectsussexkids.org.
