Project Self-Sufficiency will host a free, virtual Family Law seminar on Thursday, February 20th, 7:00 p.m. featuring attorney Angela Paternostro-Pfister. Participants will discuss child support, grounds for divorce, court procedures, alimony, parenting time, equitable distribution of assets, and other topics related to divorce. The presentation, which will be offered through Zoom, is free and open to the public; interested attendees should call Project Self-Sufficiency, 973-940-3500, for log-in details. The agency’s legal seminar series is a program of the Journey Family Success Center at Project Self-Sufficiency and is funded by the New Jersey Department of Children & Families.
Project Sussex Kids is the Sussex County Council for Young Children, an initiative of the New Jersey Department of Children and Families spearheaded by Project Self-Sufficiency. Project Sussex Kids is designed to bring together parents, caregivers, health, education and social service professionals to enhance communication, coordination and collaboration of services for children from prenatal through age eight.

Free Baby Items, Helpful Advice for Pregnant Women and Mothers of Newborns
Motivational speaker Diana Perez will headline a special Baby Beginnings event at Project Self-Sufficiency, Friday, January 31st, 10:00 a.m. – noon, to help pregnant women and parents of young children to access the resources they need to be successful. The event will feature targeted discussions about setting up a nursery and safe sleeping tips, along with free baby items, prizes and giveaways. Participants will also learn about immunizations, car seat safety, free and reduced cost activities for families, early childhood development, positive parenting techniques, and other topics related to early childhood health, safety and education. Lunch will be provided. Pregnant women and parents of young children are invited to call 973-940-3500 to register. The Baby Beginnings event is part of a monthly series which supplements Project Self-Sufficiency’s robust programs for pregnant women and parents of young children, including home visitation programs, monthly Mommy Parties, and Parent Cafes.
“We are excited to be offering these innovative and fun gatherings to the community,” explains Deborah Berry-Toon, Executive Director of Project Self-Sufficiency. “Pregnant women and parents of young children have a great need for accurate information about a host of topics, and these Baby Beginnings Fairs will allow them to receive up-to-date health and wellness advice, as well as free items for baby and family.”
Representatives from several organizations will be on hand to offer additional information about community resources for mothers and young children, including Macaroni Kid; NJ Safe Kids; Partnership for Maternal Child Health; and the Sussex County Office of Public Health Nursing.

Get Free Bankruptcy Advice
Project Self-Sufficiency will host a free, virtual Bankruptcy seminar featuring attorney Steve McNally, Thursday, January 30th, 5:00 p.m. Participants will discuss the process of filing for bankruptcy, as well as the options available to those facing overwhelming credit card debt, foreclosure, or asset repossession with an attorney. The free legal education seminar is a program of the Journey Family Success Center at Project Self-Sufficiency.
